Statement:
As a painter I am fascinated by the identity that we create for ourselves and the way it differs, but also weaves into the one that is created for us by external factors within our lives and how this affects the way we relate to others.
My recent paintings explore how the saturation of visual media in the digital age has diluted and deconstructed the meaning and function of imagery.
Through screens we receive all our answers to life's questions, our social and moral views are shaped as what we wish to see is shown to us in ever expanding quantities. I want to draw attention to the ways in which human thought and behaviour is shaped by our relationship with screens and the images we absorb through them.
