Statement:
I live in London and usually paint mountains. During lockdown I needed a subject and began documenting the skies above my home. Images snapped on my phone became small paintings and I discovered a world transformed. It was oddly compelling. The everyday seemed cast in a new light and held a strangeness that mirrored life below. Something different, a quiet, a suspense. My paintings revealed towering vistas where clarity and ambiguity mixed freely. A place where bleached forms morphed endlessly against an unrelenting void. Were these blooms building or collapsing, beautiful or threatening, Were we moving forwards or backwards - were we trapped as never before?
