The judges for the 2022 Beep Wales International Painting Prize are
Keith Ashcroft, Rosalind Faram, Catrin Webster and Jonathan Powell
Keith Ashcroft Keith Ashcroft is a painter based in Salford, Greater Manchester. He is a Lecturer in Painting at the Open College of the Arts, co-curator of Oceans Apart Gallery in Salford, and founder of OA Studios also in Salford. Keith has exhibited widely in the UK. Recent exhibitions include the Contemporary British Painting Prize 2018, New English Art Club 2018, Lynn Stainer-Painters Prize 2018 and Beep Painting Biennial 2020. Keith is currently showing a large body of work in a solo exhibition at Huddersfield Art Gallery, West Yorkshire. |
Catrin Webster
Catrin Webster is an artist working within the expanded field of painting, including large-scale, performative oil paintings, immersive collaborative installations and multimodal socially engaged practice. Her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions in for example, Reykjavik, Muscat and Rome and most recently as part of collaborations in Munster and London, including Pansy video/paintings with Roy Efrat at the Glynn Vivian, Swansea. Webster's paintings are also included in national collections at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff and the British Council Collection, South Bank London. She paints in her studio in Swansea and is a Senior Lecturer in Painting at Camberwell. |
Jonathan Powell
Bangor born Jonathan Powell is a Swansea based artist who co-founded elysium Gallery in 2007 and continues as its manager and creative programmer. Jonathan is interested in making Swansea a creative and exciting cultural hotbed of artists and activities that spread nationally and internationally whilst bringing new audiences and creatives to Wales. He sees the arts as a potent catalyst for positive change. Jonathan is also the founder and continues to run the Beep Painting Biennial. |
Rosalind Faram
Rosalind Faram is a Wirral born, Sussex based artist who has exhibited widely around the UK. Rosalind graduated from Chelsea College of Arts in 2018 and was a member of the Turps Art School 2014-15. Rosalind was the winner of the Plymouth contemporary Award in 2021 and the Beep Painting Prize main award winner in 2020. |
