Statement:
My paintings are unplanned. They develop out of the painting process. The overlapping narratives of my internal monologue lead the direction of the work. In this painting, as often, a personal narrative and a social narrative merge to depict a new thing that is hard to pin down but suggests something 'real'. The title of a painting is very specific though it might take you in a number of directions. I'm interested in the conversation that happens where word and image meet, what a painting might suggest, its particular language and how it deals with the depiction of space and motif.'
