Statement:
In the spring of 2020, my mother suddenly passed away, and while the world went into lockdown for completely different reasons, my own life was turned upside down. During the following years I created a body of work exploring the notion of loss; outlining the contours of what’s no longer there and seeking the shapes of what this new reality entails. The body of work processes the transience of life and the pursuit in finding my way back to my own everyday life. Life continues as before, and at the same time, nothing is like it was. The two paintings submitted to BEEP are part of this larger body of work revolving around loss.
