Statement:
I prefer narrative paintings just like I prefer narrative films. I love films that offer the audience a completely different experience from life, like Love Letter and The Grand Budapest Hotel. They gave me another thinking way. I think since I started to paint I pay more attention to set the environment, in some degree just like a film director rather than a painter. I like to combine 2 or more settings in my painting, or just create a setting that can't be true in real life. Normally, they all have multiple meanings of nostalgia, romance, melancholy and self-awareness.
I do paintings as this way also in view of my thought about memory. I enjoy recalling the past and I do believe lots of people like that. When people are tracing our memories, people always embellish them. Then why should I just push it to another crazy level in this circumstance?
In another aspect, I regard everyone in the society as one by one actor who play their own role and locked in different spaces and interpersonal relationships.
