Statement:
Through my paintings, I want to capture perpetual motion and the essence of a fleeting moment. I create a visual space in which to explore these paradoxical ideas further, where the intangible appears to become tangible and held within the canvas. Past experiences and sensations as well as the external environment feed into my work. Be it specific memories, a holiday or curious impressions whilst out walking, they all can come together to fuel my thoughts and are organised to make some sort of sense of the world. This compulsive process of trying to express these introspective and altruistic concerns, provide me with a space for improvisation. A space where resolution and a sense of order can be found. I sometimes find my work develops into metaphor, expressing my concerns about society and the environments and systems we are all part of.
