Statement:
I work in a variety of ways including drawing, painting and making sculptural knitted pieces. I am inspired by the landscape, life drawing, and by animals such as gorillas and fantastic birds. In lockdown I did not have much space and I only had a few drawing materials. I used sharpies and paper to draw. I found exciting colours and shapes that I drew in an abstract way. When lockdown ended things changed for me. I have a studio now and a space in which I can paint and I was able to attend life drawing sessions. My work has changed and grown. I still draw, and knit. I use the same colours and shapes as before but now in my studio I use acrylic paints and canvasses and I work on a larger scale. So, nothing has changed, but everything has changed. The painting, Releasing my Godzilla is about letting go of all my frustrations that built up because of Covid. I have painted them out. Embracing my Goddess is about grabbing the opportunities that I now have. She is inspiring.
