Statement:
This painting is from a group called ‘The Sick Rose’ made from 2020- to date, after the William Blake poem – ‘O Rose thou art sick. The invisible worm, that flies in the night, In the howling storm’. The two small paintings I have selected here - ‘Washed Out’ and 'Shrinking House’;  the subject matter is ‘the something’ that seems to suggest a feeling of enclosure in-terms of physical space and time seemingly unending, yet I am getting older and climate change is happening, particularly bees and flowers fading and vanishing and there is the other side of the coin - Is time really running out - both unending and yet running out. The subject is the elusive quality of time and seems like a physical human reflection of painted skin trying to get hold of serious issues when you can’t really.
